Today, it’s the city’s most iconic dish, and a must-try if you’re visiting Liverpool. During my last trips, I scoured the city in search of the top five spots to try this Liverpudlian delicacy. 1. Ma Egerton’s Stage Door
This is forks down my favourite spot for Scouse in Liverpool! Located near the iconic St George’s Hall, Ma Egerton’s Stage Door has a rich history tied to Liverpool’s theatre scene, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the city’s charm. What makes it even more special? On Sundays, they serve their Scouse in a Yorkshire pudding—a delicious and unique twist on the classic! The lovely owners make you feel right at home by offering traditional Scouse hospitality… A true taste of Liverpool.

Famous for its mouth-watering Scouse pies, Homebaked serves the classic dish wrapped in a flaky, golden pastry. With its warm, community vibe, it’s the perfect place to kick back and enjoy authentic Liverpool comfort food.

Right in the heart of the city, Bold Street is known for its lively atmosphere, independent cafés, and great food spots, making it the perfect location for this family-run café. Their Scouse is rich, comforting, and as traditional as it gets—perfect for a hearty lunch or an afternoon bite. With a friendly, laid-back vibe, it’s a great stop for tourists looking to try authentic Liverpool food. Just keep in mind they close at 6 p.m., so it’s not the best option for dinner!
